All have arrived!
We deeply regret that the Fall Pilgrimage has been postponed. The plan is to do the Reformed heritage tour another year.
Enjoy this U-Tube reading from Jesuit Paleontologist Teilhard de Chardin’s autobiography “The Heart of Matter.”
When scouting in France last week, Gerald was able to confirm arrangements for a hitherto unannounced visit. Sunday August 1, Lammas Day, is the celebration of the annual “Pardon” of St. Nicodemus (Yes!) in south Central Brittany.
A “pardon” is a celtic procession around holy space. Lammas Day is the Christian festival which was superimposed on the Celtic harvest festival Lughnasa. We will be honoured guests at worship at the local Catholic chapel of St. Nicodeme, which sits in the middle of fields with four holy fountains beside it. We will join the festivities, including the local feast. An angel will descend from the Chapel spire to light the festal bonfires!
So, calling all Celtic souls! If you haven’t already signed on, there are still available spaces on this pilgrimage.
Pauline Webb, former head of religious broadcasting for the BBC World Service, who accompanied us as a Theological Reflector on several pilgrimages, has been recently honoured at a public ceremony at Methodist Church House in London where one of the rooms is now “The Pauline Webb room”.
Gerald had supper with her in London, Friday May 14.

You can download Reading List Summer 2010, suggestive not exhaustive, of books and film that can provide interesting pre-reading for participants wanting to broaden their familiarity with themes that will be engaged on the pilgrimage. You will undoubtedly find others.
Dear 2010 Pilgrims to France,
We have seen the list of this year’s summer pilgrims and are looking forward to being again with a number of you who have travelled with us before, and making new friends with others for whom this is the first pilgrimage with us. There are still places available on this trip. If you have a friend or know of someone else who might be interested, please encourage them to contact Linda Lee, email@example.com in the next few weeks, while we can still arrange their accommodation. We are happy to send you more copies of the brochure. Continue reading “France 2010 update”
Pilgrimage 2010 France Update:
The first newsletter to pilgrims will come out later this week.
This will give those travelling a whole host of info on what to bring, what to wear, etc.
July 11-17, 2010, Lynne and Gerald will be teaching at the Sorrento Centre Summer School, on the shores of Shuswap Lake in the BC interior. Their course, “Finding our Voice: Singing our Heart Through the Psalms” will open participants, through biblical study animated by song, movement, art and drama, to the mystery and wonders of the book of Psalms for contemporary Christians. For more information, contact www.sorrento-centre.bc.ca.
Pilgrims from the Ireland 2008 journey will remember Roy Anderson of Vancouver. Roy is dealing with cancer, and after a series of radiation treatments, had some time with Diane and family catching some sun and warmth in Mexico. Roy underwent long and extensive surgery in the week after Easter. Word is that the operation was a success. He and Diane will both appreciate your continuing prayers.
