France 2010 update

Dear 2010 Pilgrims to France,

We have seen the list of this year’s summer pilgrims and are looking forward to being again with a number of you who have travelled with us before, and making new friends with others for whom this is the first pilgrimage with us.   There are still places available on this trip. If you have a friend or know of someone else who might be interested,  please encourage them to contact Linda Lee, pilgrimage@telus.net in the next few weeks, while we can still arrange their accommodation.   We are happy to send you more copies of the brochure.

As you may have seen on the website, we are also leading a pilgrimage in late September/early October to France, Switzerland and Scotland, on the theme of the Reformed Heritage.  Check out the Itinerary (you may need to scroll down the page to see it).

We are confirming final arrangements for our accommodations and venues.    Gerald is on a research trip in France next week and will be speaking with some of our contacts, especially in Paris.  We are having fun working with our local contacts in France.  Just this morning  we spoke with folk from the Methodist Church at St. Helier in Jersey, who are looking forward to hosting us.   We’ve been surprised to discover how many folk have ancestry from Jersey.   Do remember your swim suit;  the beaches in Jersey and in Brittany are stunning!

Our team this year will be the familiar Lynne and Gerald as programme leaders, ably assisted once more by Linda Lee.  (cheers!)

Some of you have asked about language.  Gerald has lived many years in France and is fluent.  Lynne and Linda Lee are both brushing up earlier ability that has rusted in recent years.  There is virtually nowhere this summer where English is not understood. On the other hand, people always appreciate you trying out the few phrases you may have.  (Check out your cereal boxJ)
